ONGC, as the leading Maharatna of the county, continues to achieve the benchmark which it sets for its CSR Initiatives by Oil & Natural Gas Companies in India. It is a display of true commitment and responsibility not only towards the nation, but also towards our environment and precious energy resources.

Our key milestones

With ONGC’s strong leadership and vision, we continue to play a very crucial role in project like Swachh Bharat and to Education and Health Care for every citizen. For example, with the setting up of Multi-Speciality Hospital in Sivasagar, Assam and ONGC’s support to National Cancer Institute in Nagpur, has taken up medical treatment to the door step for the elderly in the remotest villages of our country. ONGC started 31 Mobile Medical Units (MMUs) which are currently engaged in 9 states catering to the needs of 371 villages”.

These CSR Initiatives by Oil & Gas Companies, will benefit thousands of countrymen nationwide. It is always good to mention the 167 year old MRPL Lady Goschen Hospital in Mangalore which was over flowing with patients due to the increased inflow. ONGC quickly realised the need of the hours and rushed to reconstruct the hospital structure and a new ‘ONGC-MRPL Wing’ was inaugurated in February 2019. Similarly, numerous hospitals likae Trimurti Hospital in Ahmedabad, Ernakulam were upgraded to world class standards with never ending support from ONGC. With more CSR Initiatives by Oil & Gas Companies, ONGC has ensured clean Drinking Water Facilities across India by Installing 2309 nos. of tube wells and hand pumps, 121 nos. of Water RO’s, 26 nos. of Water ATM’s and many more.

ONGC’s focus on Mother Nature can also be attributed by the Clean Himalayas Initiatives. This initiative has put ONGC among the first companies to have undertaken such a mammoth cleaning initiative in the high mountain peak of the Himalayas.

No only this, to beautify the nation, ONGC has also been conducting a drive for Restoration and Beautification of Public Places and Heritage Structure. Partnering with NBC in Varanasi, ONGC has restored 4 ancient Kunds. ONGC also ensure clean and sustainable energy by providing Lightning Solutions in remote villages, thus illuminating the entire nation. ONGC has successfully installed 36,597 solar street lights.

Another CSR Initiative was Green Sole, wherein the used shoes donated by ONGC employees and others were remoulded and transformed into new footwear for school going students belonging to underprivileged families. To ensure that we and our generations breathe clean air and remain healthy, ONGC undertook a unique initiative in Haridwar to convert cow dung into useful fuel and value added products by setting up Bio-CNG cum Fertilizer & Bottling Plant at Haridwar. This helps the availability of clean environment to the local population of Haridwar and also helps in protecting the flora and fauna locally.

To ensure that the nation’s pool of skilled manpower increases and equal job opportunities to all ONGC initiated a unique project by the name of “ONGC Super 30”Sivasagar (in Assam). This initiative trains 30 students belonging to economically weaker families to get admission in premier engineering institute of the country. In the last five years over 145 students have benefited through this initiative. Other CSR activities by ONGC include Organic Farming Training Centr–e, Solar Electrification of Rural Household and many more.

Project Sakhi – A Ray of Hope

This is one of the Swachh Bharat Initiatives and has been implemented at Sivasagar towards ensuring menstruation hygiene for the girl child. This initiative was jointly ointly implemented by ONGC and UNICEF. this project will provide benefit to over 7000 students from 13 Government Girls High Schools.

Promoting Education

ONGC has supported over 970 Ekal Vidyalayas. The objective of this project is to provide informal education to children who could not avail formal education due to various reasons.

Education and skill development has been one of the prime objectives of ONGC, particularly in the Northeast. Although there is a steady increase in the number of students enrolled in schools lately, in Assam and Tripura, but there are still not enough classrooms to accommodate the students. ONGCians has supported over 35 plus schools and colleges in the remote areas of Assam and Tripura for the up gradation of education infrastructure which will help in more enrolment of the students.

Skill Development Initiative

ONGC has started a Skill Development Institute at Ahmedabad. This is in conjunction with Petroleum Section Skill Initiative. Currently there are 780 youth undergoing training in 9 different trades under this initiative.

Empowering the Youth of Jammu & Kashmir

With the change in the scenario in the valley, ONGC has undertaken skill development projects with the help of the Army. Through these skill development initiatives, 300 boys were trained in retail sales and hospitality and another 60 girls were trained in fashion designing and cutting & sewing.

Project Green Hub

For the videography and documentation enthusiasts, ONGC initiated training of 20 youth every year in wildlife videography and documentation. So far in last 3 years, 60 youth have been trained under this program and are gainfully engaged and successfully working in the field of wildlife and environment conservation. many have them have even won Integration award and recognition in this field. This initiative is also the recipient of Manthan award which is for using technology in Preservation and Conservation of Wildlife and Bio Diversity.

Skill Development in Plastic Technology

With close to 500 youth belonging to socially and economically weaker section of the society from Tripura, West Bengal, Odisha, Rajasthan and Delhi were trained through CIPET in plastic technology. This has ensured over 95% employment to the youth who have undergone this training program.

Solar Electrification of Rural Household

The residents of Narayanpur Rail Basti Village in Silchar District (Assam) were facing hardship for decades because of non-availability of electricity. Through this project two village women were trained for six months on all components of solar electrification at BarefootCollege. Upon completion of their training program these two ladies have set up the entire solar electrification of every house in the village. Henceforth, the entire village will have solar powered electricity with all repair and maintenance done by the two ladies.
